Transport Canada Medical Application

If you wish to attend our practice for the purpose of applying for an Transport Canada medical examination, please contact us.

Please familiarise yourself with our practice terms and conditions regarding Transport Canada applications below:

1) Dr Buchner is designated by Transport Canada (TC) to conduct initial medical examinations and forward the results to TC for decision. The decision to issue,  defer or deny remains solely with the TC medical department.

2) Initial applications may take several months to process and our practice has no control over the time frame nor their decision. We will, however, inform you to the best of our knowledge if your medical does not have any obvious reason for being denied.

3) TC may and often do request further medical investigations, such as bloodwork and cardiologist reviews. Our practice will not be held liable for any extra costs incurred in such a case.

4) Holding a valid ICAO Class 1 medical is not a guarantee that initial TC certification will be granted, especially considering cases that are already subject to a medical protocol. Please provide all current reports and results pertaining to medical conditions on the day of the medical examination, in the same way that you would do with your ICAO medical.

5) The practice fee does NOT include the fees levied by Transport Canada itself.,

6) For initial applications, please have a mailing address within North America ready that you are able to use. TC will mail you a temporary certificate and in our experience, sending it anywhere else will result in possible significant delays.

7) For renewals, please do not forget to bring your TC temporary certificate OR TC licence book with. The renewal is authorised with a stamp on the documentation that you provide. Failure to do so will prevent us from renewing your medical.

8) Please complete this form digitally – Transport Canada application – and email it to admin@buchnermed.co.za before your appointment.
