SACAA Medical

The SACAA implemented a digital system called Empic in 2017. At present, there is no online integration between the system and the applicant. As such, medical examiners are expected to forward the questionnaires to the applicant via email. Our practice has endeavoured to improve on this system by supplying the medical questionnaires online via Google Forms.

While all efforts are in place to maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA,) we recognise that not all applicants may be willing to complete such a form. If you have any reservations in doing so, you may print a copy once opened (by using “right click” and print) and emailing it to admin@buchnermed.co.za. The length of the medical questionnaire is beyond our control. Please note that the responses are removed from Google Forms once captured and accessed by authorised staff only.

As of 2021, we require that these forms be completed BEFORE an appointment can be made, irrespective of having completed a form with the previous medical.  This is done in order to ensure a smooth and professional experience for the client and no exceptions will be made.

PLEASE NOTE – AS OF FEBRUARY 2024, ALL PILOTS PREVIOUSLY DEEMED COLOUR VISION GRADE II SAFE WILL HAVE TO PRESENT EVIDENCE OF THIS IN THE FORM OF THE PREVIOUS PASSED LANTERN TEST RESULTS OR DD50 FROM THE INSTITUTE OF AVIATION MEDICINE OR CAD TEST RESULTS. FAILURE TO PRESENT THIS EVIDENCE WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC REFERRAL TO THE SACAA FOR A NEW ASSESSMENT.
